Dakhla Airport: Resumption of flights to and from Paris Airport CDG

Dakhla – A Royal Air Maroc (RAM) plane coming from Paris (France), with on board members of the Moroccan community living abroad (MRE) and foreign tourists, landed Tuesday at Dakhla airport.

This flight marks the resumption of international air links in this airport platform after more than two months of suspension, due to the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

Travelers were able to complete customs formalities and retrieve their luggage in a smooth and orderly manner, while complying with the instructions of social distancing and barrier gestures, with the use of dispensers of hydroalcoholic gels.

In a statement to MAP, the commander of this airport platform, Abdelmounaim Aoutoul welcomed the organization of the first flight after more than two months of suspension of flights, with 60 passengers on board, stressing that passengers were received in accordance with the best health requirements and conditions set by the authorities.

Thus, the National Office of Airports has put in place, with its airport partners (Ministry of Health, Royal Gendarmerie, National Security and Customs …), a series of measures that consist in the redevelopment and equipment of new spaces at the airport to allow the services of the Ministry of Health to perform antigenic tests and PCR tests to passengers from international destinations, he said.

He also recalled that the Dakhla airport is certified “AHA” (Airport Health Accreditation) by the Airport Council International, following the evaluation of health measures implemented by airports to fight against the pandemic Covid-19.

Mr. Aoutoul also said that this airport platform will host during the next few flights organized by various airlines from various European countries.

Passengers approached by MAP have expressed their satisfaction with the resumption of flights, stressing that the trip took place in good conditions thanks to the efforts of all authorities and stakeholders in this operation.

The government had recently announced a battery of measures and provisions, from February 7, to ensure effective implementation of its decision on the reopening of the borders to flights, from and to the Kingdom.

Taken in accordance with the legal provisions relating to the management of the state of health emergency and based on the recommendations of the technical commission created for this purpose, these measures relate to the obligation to present the vaccination pass and the negative result of a PCR test less than 48 hours old before boarding the plane for all travelers wishing to access the national territory, and the realization of rapid tests for passengers upon arrival at the Kingdom’s airports.

They also concern the realization of PCR tests for groups of travelers in a random way as soon as they arrive, the possibility of carrying out an additional test at the hotel or the residence center for tourists, after 48 hours of their entry to the national territory, the implementation of special measures for positive cases.
